Chicago is one of the USA’s biggest cities, so it comes as no surprise that there are so many things to see and do here. From interesting culture, to beautiful architecture and stunning parks, there’s loads here to keep your entertained. For however long you’re visiting, these are the things you must do in Chicago.
1. Visit The Bean
One of Chicago’s most recognisable and iconic landmarks, The Bean (officially known as Cloud Gate, affectionately known as The Bean) is one of the top things you cannot miss in Chicago. The beautiful sculpture sits proud in an open space, towered over by some of Chicago’s most famous buildings, and you just have to go and walk under it and take your picture in its reflection.
2. Eat deep dish
There are frequent battles between New York’s skinny pizza and Chicago’s deep dish, so while you’re here you have to try out the Windy City’s counterpart for yourself. This style of pizza feels more like a pie, with giant sides that hold massive amounts of tomato filling and delicious cheese.
One of the best places in Chicago for deep dish is Giordano’s, a spot in the city center that’s been serving deep dish for decades. Make sure you go with a friend – even the smallest size of pizza is the most filling thing in the world!
3. Stop by Wrigley Field
Many Chicago locals are fierce sports fans, and the Chicago Cubs are one of the biggest teams in the city. Stop by any sports bar on game night and you’ll find dozens of fans screaming at the TV and cheering their favorite baseball team on.
During a trip to Chicago, make sure to visit Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. Here you can take a tour of the grounds and learn about the team from knowledgable staff.
4. Stroll through Millennium Park
Spread out over 25 acres, Millennium Park is one of Chicago’s most innovative outdoor spaces, where public art, beautiful gardens, concerts and more are hosted. There’s something going on at any time of year here – from live performances in summer and ice skating in winter – so make sure you check the park’s website before visiting to see what’s happening while you’re in town.
5. Marvel at the skyline
Chicago has one of the most legendary skylines in the USA, and is home to a number of the tallest buildings found in the country. The Sears Tower and Trump Tower are among the highest buildings here, and other highlights across the skyline include the John Hancock Tower and nearby 900 N Michigan.
Make sure you go up to 360 Chicago, a space on the 94th floor of the John Hancock Center where you can witness incredible views over the city. As the name suggests, you can see all around here, across the whole city and out to Lake Michigan. One of the unmissable things you must do in Chicago!
